My Angel (Photopolymer) Print

Angels' Prayer

Angels' Prayer by Mary Gow

Did you look at yesterday’s posting about the angels in Paris that Rosemary Flannery is writing a book about? You can see one of the chapters of her book at www.eyepreferparis.com.

Angels are one of my fascinations too. For the past decade I’ve been gathering images of them and I’m working on a series. The angel print shown here was inspired by Angels Watching Over the Tomb of Christ, a watercolor by William Blake from 1806. Does it look a bit like it’s an etching? It’s produced with a photopolymer plate. My drawing was transferred to mylar and then shot onto the photopolymer plate. A source I’d recommend for buying a photopolymer plate is Takach Press on-line store. For a fuller explanation of photopolymer plates go to http://www.photopolymerplates.com/photopoly.htm

How about you, do you believe in angels? If so, who are your favorites?

A Glimpse of the Angels of Paris

I have a long-time interest in angels and Rosemary Flannery, an American artist and writer based in Paris for the last twenty years (and a friend of mine), is working on a book called The Angels of Paris: Looking Up in the World’s Most Beautiful City. Treat yourself to a sneak peek at one of the chapters of her book at the Dec. 6 blog post of Eye Prefer Paris at www.eyepreferparis.com.

Where to Find Emerging Artists & Collectors

In 2003 Jen Bekman opened a gallery on the Lower East Side of New York to support emerging artists and collectors. In 2007 she came up with the formula (see an example below), to sell editions on the internet, whereby making art available to everyone. She has succeeded at her mission at www.20×200.com This varies by artist, however a typical edition formula goes something like this:

8″ x 10″ edition of 200 at $20 each
11″ x 14″ edition of 500 at $50 each
16″ x 20″ edition of 20 at $200 each
24″ x 30″ edition of 10 at $1000 each

There term “emerging” is a relative one, as you’ll find noted photographer, William Wegman, is among the artists registered with 20×200.

If you’re thinking there aren’t any places to sell your work, dream again and check out this site!
