When I was studying at the Art Students League in New York, I took this photo one overcast August day. Long before I was at the League, Robert Henri taught there. The book after which this blog is named, The Art Spirit, is a compilation of Henri’s lectures, notes, and readings. Thank you, Mr. Henri, for helping me see better.

In the Q & A session after the screening of his upcoming movie, I Am, Tom Shadyac said he was enjoying living in his 1000 square foot double wide trailer instead of his 17,000 square foot house. . . that it’s about “simplicity, simplicity, simplicity”!
As I watched him, I thought, wow, he is truly living out his artist’s life.
